Chocolate Sea Salt Donuts

Okay, this was a SUPER simple and delicious way for me to get my donut fix in without leaving the house. Though if I’m honest I miss leaving the house more often. We are not in a lockdown right now but winter is a natural time for me to hibernate more and leave less often. I also hate driving in the winter so that does not help.

This was a recipe of sorts but I more so used a pre-made mix to make them. Have you ever tried Kodiak Cakes pancake and waffle mixes? They have a lot of other products too but I seriously love ALL of their mixes. For transparency, I am one of the dietitian ambassadors (or was in 2020 as they’re redoing their program) so I get some free products to try every so often.

However, my thoughts are all my own and I do not partner with any brand unless I like them and their products. This one in particular I love because pancakes and waffles are a staple in my house, but these mixes have a good amount of protein and use whole grain flour for more nutrients (namely, fiber!).

That said, I used their Dark Chocolate Pancake and Waffle mix to make these quick and easy donuts!

Chocolate Sea Salt Donuts

Recipe using a pre-made pancake/waffle mix – makes 6 donuts

Course Breakfast, Snack
Keyword chocolate, donuts

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Dark chocolate pancake and waffle mix I use Kodiak Cakes
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 egg, beaten lightly
  • sea salt
  • Pumpkin seed butter or any nut butter you prefer

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 and spray your donut pan

  2. Lightly beat the egg in a small bowl with a fork

  3. Mix with water and pancake mix

  4. Spread your batter into your donut pan. If you don't have a donut pan use a muffin or mini-muffin pan

  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes. Remove from the oven, sprinkle sea salt and drizzle with your nut or seed butter.

I used 88 Acres Pumpkin Seed Butter as a drizzle but you can utilize and nut or seed butter you have! Or simply add some frosting or marshmallow fluff if you’d like these to be sweeter.

Be sure to let me know if you make these!
