Life lately: Winter, Cooking, & Lincoln
Hello! It has been a while since I’ve done a life lately post where I just share what has been going on my life…lately! 😂

Steve and I ended 2020 with our friends with the longest zoom call I’ve had yet. It was very refreshing even though I use zoom almost daily. I’ve been missing our friends throughout the pandemic but I have to think that with a baby, we would be seeing them less anyways? Friends and feeing disconnected though has been on my mind so New Years really helped with that. 🎉
Lincoln is NINE months old already! If you’ve been following them you know I’m on a journey to give him 100 different foods by 1 year old. We’re getting close! On deck for new foods will be steamed and peeled chestnuts, sardines, lemon, and maybe crickets. Just kidding but Steve did get some crickets, yes, edible crickets, from his sister Jamie! We all tried the “cheesy” ones and they were fine. Crunchy, not much too them but I swear my stomach chirped in the night.
Lincoln’s such a joy in our life. He brings some of the goofiest things out of us and I love him for that. I wonder what people would say if they watch us run around the house chasing him or dancing like fools for him. 😂 He loves eating and has recently started most of his babbling at the high chair. We think he hears us talk about our day so he is starting to chime in as well. Right now he’s saying, “ba-ba” and “ma-ma.”
Onto the New Year!
If you have been here a while then you know I like to set up goals during the year. January of course is a common time to do this, but it’s the follow through everyone needs help on! So I’ve set up appointments in my calendar to take dedicated time for myself to review my progress. Among my goals are to read five books, turn the blog into an LLC (gasp!), bring more diversity into Lincoln’s life, reach more people here, run a 5k, and show myself compassion in all things. Without compassion, you are really just left with judging yourself and that does not help.
Do you set up goals for the year? What kinds of things do you want to work on? I know many people were probably wishing for things to go back to normal right away this year…but that’s simply not the case. With vaccinations going out I do have hope that our sense of normalcy starts returning. I will be getting my first dose this week, thank you to my employer!
Other things I’m up to
Watching: We’re enjoying the History of Swear Words on Netflix. We have a lot of other shows we are trying to finish up such as Blacklist, Big Bang Theory, Community, and The Mandalorian.
Reading: Currently working on Intuitive Eating by Evelyn Tribole, MS, RDN, CED-RD-S and Elyse Resch, MS, RDN, CEDRD-S, FAND. That’s the adult book I’m on and of course daily I’m reading a lot of board books, Dr. Seuss and other ones Lincoln loves. He is very much a book worm.
Enjoying: We continue to find little projects to do around the house to get things more organized and orderly. Our basement has become one of my favorite parts of our home as of late. We have a play/workout area for us and Linc, and the other section has our couch, TV, and zero light-up toys! It gives Steve and I space to relax and unwind from the day.
As I wrap up this post I thought I’d give you a preview of what’s to come. I’ve got a Taco Soup recipe coming out later this week, pumpkin seed cups in February, lamb meat balls, food brand reviews and more.
