Smoothies are an awesome way to get tons of nutrients in something that’s portable, most of the time colorful, and hopefully always taste great! One time, I made a pretty ugly smoothie…tasted great but it was not nice on the eyes.
If you’re like me, I always have left over smoothie in the blender and instead of wasting it, I started freezing it instead. Then, I got these popsicle molds and thought, how easy is that!? Especially when I want ice cream in the summer and don’t have any or don’t feel like going out to get some…or when I already had ice cream and I’m needing some fruit…fruitsicles just made sense.
Then I added beer…
Who wouldn’t love a beersicle am I right? Get fruit and some beer? It’s a win-win in my book.
Adding beer was a fun way to enjoy a little alcohol while still getting my other nutrients in. I chose a fruity beer that matched the fruit I was putting into the smoothie already. For these beersicles, I used Rubaeus which is a bright pink, raspberry (SUPER raspberry) beer from Founders Brewing Company. Did you know they distribute in all 50 states now? Pretty sweet!

Raspberry Banana Beersicles
Alcoholic popsicles for those times you need fruit and beer in your life.
- 1 frozen banana
- 1/2 cup frozen raspberries
- 1/2 cup beer (I used Rubaeus from Founders Brewing Co.)
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt, plain
Add all ingredients to a blender, blend and pour!
You can use your favorite milk or milk alternative for these if you want to make them non-alcoholic. Or make half alcoholic for yourselves and non-alcoholic for the kids. Just remember which one is which!

They were incredibly easy to make. They took a total of five minutes to blend it all together and to lick the spoon. There was about half a can of beer left so I experimented and filled two empty popsicle molds with just beer. It froze okay but tasted more like water with a hint of beer. Much better when blended up with fruit. Next time, I’ll just drink the other half of the beer on the side.
I’ll keep experimenting with smoothies and beersicles but remember you can always sub out the beer and just use milk instead. I recommend milk over juice in a smoothie to add in more nutrients. Juice might give you some more vitamins or minerals, but your fruit will have that covered as well.
