I feel like I have been a bit MIA lately. I have posts ready to go but my mind has been in other places. There’s a strong part of me desiring to build this into a small side-business. I know I am capable of it and I know I could do it. Truthfully, I just haven’t felt I’ve had enough time for it.
We did a garage sale this past weekend and sold a bunch! Our tables got restocked and we’re going to do one more push next weekend. Actually, it was my first time hosting a garage sale! It’s way more work than you think it will be, gratefully my mother-in-law was there to help for the entire day.
Beyond that, we’re continuing to work on our house and furnishing it ever so slowly. Taking your time with home decor is painful but worth it. I want it to just look like my dreams right NOW but, I also want to have money in our accounts! We’ll get there, perhaps I’ll do some before and after photos of the interior soon.
Let’s get to why you’re really here though. These brownies are ooey, gooey, and absolutely delicious. What brownies aren’t though?
These are extra special since their not-so-secret ingredient is a beer from my hometown brewery. A salted caramel porter by Pigeon Hill Brewing Company that tastes exactly like it sounds! Pigeon Hill, “steeped in tradition and hopped with history,” is named after an old sand dune that was said to over 300 feet tall. ‘Nuff said, let’s get to these brownies!!
Salted Caramel Porter Brownies
- 1.5 cups all-purpose flour (I subbed in almond flour and it turned out great)
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 eggs, room temp
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 4 tbsp unsalted, butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup beer, room temp (salted caramel porter or any dark beer will do)
- 1/2 cup caramel chips
Preheat oven to 350 and line a 9×9 pan with parchment paper
Mix your dry and wet ingredients (but do not add the butter or beer yet)
Once everything is combined, slowly pour your beer and butter and gently mix together so not to create too much foaming
Mix in your caramel chips
Bake for 30-35 minutes and enjoy over and over and over again.
You could use a light beer too but be sure to use one that you enjoy the flavors of. You can also dash a bit of sea salt on the top after you pull them out of the oven. (Insert drooling emoji here!)
