Three Ingredient Homemade Honey Mustard
Are you a dip type of person? I know I am! Whether it’s vegetables, fruits, pretzels, chicken fingers, or chips I LOVE dips! Also, whoever said a dip can’t be nutritious was just wrong. In fact, dips sometimes are the only way that kids may try new foods and textures. Worry less about ranch and more about exposure and less pressure on yourself.
Why bring up ranch? I recently overheard a conversation between parents who were shaming someone else, though that person wasn’t with them at the time. “SHE serves ranch with everything it seems and that just CAN’T be healthy.” Insert eye roll here! Number one, shaming ANYone does not do anything but put yourself above them on a moral pedestal and friend, we don’t have room for more of those in our society. Number two, so what? If you enjoy some ranch or a yogurt sauce as a dip and it gets kids eating vegetables or trying foods they wouldn’t eat without the dip…then what is your problem?
Of course eating ranch as your sole source of nutrition is going to make you deficient in nutrients. That’s obvious but I also don’t know any one or any kid that ONLY eats ranch and NOTHING else. So again, back off the shaming and keep your eyes on your own plate. Cultivate a world and community where we don’t shame each other for the way we eat or choose to serve food to our children, mmkay? MMKAY.
With that, I made a yummy and creamy dip for you all! Lincoln helped! Did you miss that video? Head to my instagram feed (click HERE) and watch the reel with the mustard as the background. It’s SO easy to throw together and a great one for kids to “cook” because it’s three ingredients and all measuring and mixing.
Lincoln is currently 16 months old which is a great age for mixing, touching food while cooking/baking, stirring, measuring and of course, making a mess. It’s all part of the fun, at least for me, and I find it to be a great way to start forming a healthy relationship with your kitchen.
Okay, you came here for the recipe. I get it! Here you go!
Three Ingredient Honey Mustard
- 1/2 cup whole milk plain Greek yogurt
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp spicy brown mustard (don't worry it does not taste spicy)
Pour all ingredients in a bowl, mix and ENJOY!
This made enough for myself, husband and 16 month old. If you have a family of five or more I recommend doubling this recipe.
This is a great way to use up the bottom of the tub of yogurt if you buy the whole tubs more than individual containers. It’s also a great homemade dip to throw together for a bbq or get-together. Personally, I enjoyed adding it to sandwiches, salads, lentil patties, and as a dip with carrots and pretzels.
